IMPACT: EAU CLAIRE

June 5, 2017

Captains in their chairs and Angels behind the wheels, it was a gorgeous day for a race!  Aggressively surpassing initial race goals, myTEAM TRIUMPH-WI (mTT) entered 9 Captains and 31 Angels in the Eau Claire 1/2 and Full Marathon on May 7, 2017.

“The interest in myTEAM TRIUMPH-WI out in the Eau Claire area just continues to grow.” said Christian Jensen, Executive Director of myTEAM TRIUMPH-WI.  “We will be actively looking for regional leadership within the upcoming months.”

Team Joey!

One of the teams out on that course that day was Team Don.  In 2015, Don was involved in a tree cutting accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down but that hasn’t stopped him!  On his mTT fundraising page, Don writes,   “Physically, I’m still in pretty good shape. I workout at least 3 times a week and go to PT twice a week. The whole key is staying active because when I do I feel better. I just think that as long as you keep trying, anything is possible.”

This is the attitude that inspired his friends at Highland Fitness, where Don is a regular.  As a team of the 10, Don’s 9 Angels took turns and pushed him relay style on the full marathon course.  “Our team was amazing.  We had a great time.  They enjoyed it as much as I did!” commented Captain Don.  Along with getting Don to that finish line for his moment of Triumph, his team of Angels raised close to $2,600 for the mTT organization and helped to further broadcast the mTT mission.  “If you have a positive attitude, even if things aren’t going the way you want them to, it just makes the day go so much better. A positive attitude is everything.” says Don.

Don’s story of Triumph is just one of the hundreds that continue to inspire us everyday.
