The Runner: Tricia
Tricia will be bringing the team home with a 26.2 mile run around the city which will end in “the shoot”. She has a husband, Lee, two children ages 7 and 10 and 2 dogs. She is a triathlon coach and owns TDA Coaching. She keeps busy playing outside – running, biking, open water swimming, paddle boarding, downhill skiing, camping, hiking”… just to name a few activities.
“I have been racing with MTT since 2012. Jacob Vandenberg was my first Captain, and of course I was hooked. I’ve done several running races and a couple of triathlons with Chris Engstrom and Kayla Kudick…. (foreshadowing!)”
“When I heard mTT was looking for a runner for IMWI this year and then heard the Captain would be Kayla, I knew it was a good fit. I knew Barb (swimmer) and Kayla well before we started training and have gotten closer with them. I have gotten to know what a great person Dave is. I’m excited for Ironman weekend and race day to hang out with the team even more!”
How do you fit it all in? Life, training, work?…
“This is the first time in about 8 years that I haven’t had any structure in my training, and I’m having a lot of fun with it. Since I stay home with my kids and work from home, I often find myself running around the 400 meter circle in our neighborhood while they bike, or running on the treadmill. For one of my 16 mile long training runs, I was lucky enough to be in beautiful Marquette, Michigan on the trail along Lake Superior … followed by a nice “ice bath” in the lake!”
Ironman! What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to sharing the Ironman atmosphere with my team. It’s an amazing day, and an incredible feeling crossing the finish line. I can’t wait to see Kayla’s face when she sees the huge crowds and hears everyone cheering for her. No fears!! Just smart racing by all of us.
Tricia will be supported on race day by her husband and kids. She will also have 5 of her own athletes that are part of her team of triathletes who will be racing that day.
“I’m so excited to see them out there. I’m sure I’ll see lots of familiar faces amongst volunteers, families of my coached athletes, triathlon acquaintances, and spectators.”
